The system offers the possibility of high-performance non-destructive, multi-scale - spot, linear and areal - and multi-element analyzes for sediments, soils and rock samples, being able to even find out the metal content at microgram/gram concentrations, including at the level of inclusions or a single crystal by combining XRF, with x-ray and optical imaging. X-ray images convey information that is recorded and displays chemical sample characteristics and density as an X-ray image. This equipment is among the most performing at the global level, being dedicated to finding out the chemical and mineralogical composition of rock, sediment and soil samples, extremely important data for finding out the economic potential of the substrate, for finding out the concentrations of chemical elements in soils, including those with the status of pollutants, which is extremely useful for environmental studies.
For the complex analysis of unconsolidated fine sediments (silt, silt, silt) the laboratory is equipped as auxiliary equipment with a FRITSCH ANALYSETTE 22 laser granulometric measurement system ideal for determining the particle size distribution of powdery samples by laser diffraction from 0.5 to 1500 µm.
