Real-Time PCR Systems (CFX Connect and iQ5)

The PCR room of CICS-UBI (Health Sciences Research Center) is composed by several thermocyclers, including three Real-Time PCR systems (IQ5, CFX connect, and CFX Opus 96). These systems are a powerful systems that allow to monitor in real-time the amplification of a targeted DNA molecule during the PCR, using non-specific fluorescent dyes that binds to double-strand DNA or DNA probes labelled with a fluorescent dye. The IQ5 and CFX opus 96 have 5-channel multiplexing that allow to amplify 5 different DNA targets in the same reaction. There are several applications using this technology, such as quantification of gene expression, genotyping, medical diagnostic, biotechnology, microbiology, etc.
